Welcome to my little corner of the internet – my name is Marissa.
Well, not really.
Marissa is not my real name, but a name I choose to use online for a number of different reasons.
First and foremost it is for privacy reasons. I live in a same-sex relationship with the most amazing partner I have ever had in my life. However, while she is not “famous famous”, she does have a significant public profile and chooses to keep that part of her life completely private.
I’d love to be more open about it, but I love and respect her and her wishes, so we both use assumed names online. We are both bisexual, and have both been in relationships with both men and women.
How did I choose the name Marissa?
Growing up I had a very close friend who died in a car accident – her name was Marissa and I adored her. I chose Marissa as my online persona to honour her – including with the blessing of her family, with whom I am still very close.
I don’t anticipate using this site for a great deal of content. I work in the construction industry, and I’m usually pretty busy with that work – which I love immensely.
However, if I weren’t doing that, I would love to be writer – and from time to time I want to dabble in that online. So that will probably end up here.
And what’s with my obsession with high heels?
I guess it is one of my guilty feminine pleasures. I started wearing them when I was about 15, and always loved the way they made me look and feel.
If I’m not visiting a construction site for work, there is an extremely high chance I am in the office and in heels. I can’t help myself, and my collection is sizeable.
The photo I use online – in the top corner of this site – is a picture of me, but it’s tweaked a little with FaceApp. I’ve never been a blonde in real life, but I sort of fell in love with this photo when mucking around with that app.
It does look mostly like me, but if you saw me walking down the street, you might recognise me – but you’d have to be paying close attention!
I guess that’s that privacy thing again – it’s something I’m very conscious of!
